AMUG Meetings
Meetings are a big benefit of AMUG membership. As one of the largest User Groups in the southeast, AMUG has an active meeting schedule. Our monthly meetings feature some of the top Macintosh hardware and software vendors. AMUG's membership includes some of the leading Mac experts in this part of the country, so knowledge is gained in our open forums from other members on a vast array for subjects. From database design to digital video, you can usually get an answer from a fellow AMUG member. Our semi-annual Swapfest and annual Auction offer members a chance to save money on hard-to-find hardware and software. MacCollege offers beginner and intermediate classes on topics of importance to all Mac users. Our SIGs give advanced training in specialized areas, such as Multimedia and Desktop Publishing.
AMUG Monthly General Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at Macquarium in downtown Atlanta, unless otherwise noted.
Admission is free for members and visitors. Members receive a free raffle ticket for valuable door prizes (two raffle tickets if you wear an AMUG t-shirt). Members may also purchase one raffle ticket for $5.00.
6:30 pm |
A half-hour of socializing with fellow members as well as visitors. |
7:00 pm |
The meeting itself starts at 7:00 P.M. with about 30 minutes of Question-Answer on topics such as troubleshooting and technical info. Bring your Mac questions/challenges to the meeting and see if you can get an answer from one of the experts in the group. |
7:30 pm |
We have a formal presentation on topics of interest to the group. Software and hardware representatives like Apple, Adobe and Microsoft will often present their latest products. |
8:00 pm |
Stretch break, announcements about upcoming events, and handling of other AMUG business matters. |
9:00 pm |
Raffle for door prizes for attendees holding tickets (most meetings). Show's over, go home. |
From time to time, special receptions or socials like the AMUG Holiday party are held either before or after the meetings. All meetings are subject to change, so it's a good idea to regularly check the Web Site or the events folder on the AMUG Online Community, as well as the AMUG newsletter, Maclanta, to keep informed of the latest meeting news.
