Stan Allen for Telecom Director

I am the audio-visual technician for Saint Joseph's Hospital. I'm 49 years old and live in the Covered bridge area in Cobb county. I've been living in the Atlanta area since 1984.

I really owe a lot to the group, having learned a lot through interaction with the other members and through the discussion group section of the Online Community.

I have been a Mac user since 1987. I have been an AMUG member since 1994. I've served the group as a board member twice. I served as program director, hosting the first 2 Maclanta Xpo events. I was also education director during the time the Mac OS X SIG was started and the Multimedia SIG was revived.

I am running for Telecom director because I am concerned about the direction of both the AMUG Online Community. I feel our website, while technically functional could be improved by making it more interactive. I'd like to add more graphic and multimedia content and make sure info is updated in a timely manner. I'd like to expand the number of people working on the site as well.

Most importantly, I am for keeping the direction of the Online community the same as it is now. I am TOTALLY COMMITTED to keeping the FirstClass software and the web interface the same until a superior solution is discovered, approved by the entire board and brought before the group and demoed at a monthly meeting. I will support a special vote of group members on the matter of changing the software. I am extremely respectful of the present Online Community and think it is one of AMUG's most valuable assets. I do feel that the present structure of the Community needs revamping and will make it my top priority, but I am NOT in favor of "scrapping" the FirstClass software.

So if you feel the current Online Community is lacking, like some on the board do, then don't vote for me. If you like the FirstClass software and want to make some minor changes to it, then vote for me. Respectfully yours,
