Education
AMUG is a non-profit educational organization whose purpose is to educate and inform about the Macintosh computer and all the hardware, software, and peripherals that you can use to be more productive in your work and have more fun at play. To that end, we have monthly general meetings to answer questions and present what's new, and we produce a monthly newsletter.
Special Interest Groups
We also offer classes for smaller groups that focus on specific areas. These special interest groups (SIGs) generally focus on one topic a little more intensively. We currently sponsor a Mac OS X SIG hosted by Jay Cann and a Filemaker Pro SIG hosted by Lee Hoong. These meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at the MacQuarium, 7:00 - 8:30PM.
SIG Ideas
We want to come up with some more SIGs for people to enjoy and learn from. If you're interested in learning more about a specific topic, or want to start a group that concentrates on a specific topic, contact the Education Director at [email protected].
- Programming SIG
- Video on your Mac SIG
- Business SIG
- Forward-thinking SIG (A SIG about any new technologies that are out there)
MacLanta Xpo
The MacLanta Expo is a day long experience that includes a series of classes designed to broaden knowledge about Macs, Mac programs, and how others use their Macintosh. Besides a day-long schedule of special classes, there are opportunities to meet with software and hardware vendors, get helpful answers to your questions, see the latest applications, chat with fellow Mac enthusiasts, bid for great prizes at our auctions, and much more.
