I'm ready for a new MacBook Pro; I'm only waiting for that "sweet spot" between a silent upgrade and the dumping of the previous models. Also looking for the upgrade to Leopard. Any hints or suggestions out there?

Well, there are rumors of some hardware upgrades at NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) national convention in Vegas early this month. It'll most likely be revised Mac Pros, but could include MacBook Pros too.

If there's no announcement at NAB then the next most likely opportunity would be at Apple's WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) in June. That's the latest we'll see Leopard since they said it'd be released this Spring (ending late June).

Grin Well, I went ahead and did it. Picked up a new 15" MacBook Pro at AIS today. Great machine. Just one question:

I get a momentary hang up with the mouse whenever it changes the foreground app. Anybody know anything about this?

How much memory do you have installed?

It might be a symptom of low physical memory and the operating system swapping out data between physical memory (when you bring the app to the front) and virtual memory (stored memory when the app isn't being actively used).

I recommend at least 1GB on the MacBook Pros, 2GB if you can afford it. If you want to do Parallels or VMWare then you should seriously look at 3GB.

Chris,
I have 2 gigs of memory, so that shouldn't be the problem. I've noticed that when switching between applications, the cursor will just sit there for two or three seconds and I keep stroking the track pad until it starts again.
