Here is a list of additional features added to the forums...

Ad Managment
Control when, where, how, and for how long banner ads may appear in our forums.

Active Members In Topic
See what members have posted in a topic, and how many times. The most frequent poster will be listed first and highlighted. [ IMAGE NOT SHOWN - GUESTS CANNOT VIEW ATTACHED IMAGES ]

Custom Profile Field
We can now easily add additional fields for information you may want to share. We've already added three fields: what's type of computer do you primarily use, who's your ISP, and what's your ISP speed. [ IMAGE NOT SHOWN - GUESTS CANNOT VIEW ATTACHED IMAGES ]

EmailFlash
An old feature, but one I'd like to mention none-the-less. When you receive a PM, or private message, through the forum you'll see a blinking icon next to My Messages as well as how many PMs you have pending.

Gmail Field
Another old feature that's still here - list your GMail email address among your other contacts.

iChatInfoMod
List your iChat username among your other contacts, instead of putting it under AIM.

Increase/Decrease Postbox Size
Think the postbox is too big, or too small when you're writing a message? Now you can increase and decrease the size as you need using the two buttons at the bottom left of the window.

Inline Attachments
Want to include your attachments in your message? First attach the files and then select how you want the attachment included from the pulldown menu above the smilies.

Monthly Statistics on Profile
In addition to other statistics you can see your posting statistics by month under Show Stats in your profile.

PM Info To header
See how many PMs you have. Both the total number, and the un-read number of messages.

Profile User Action
See what section a specific person is from their profile.

Reason For Editing Mod
No one's perfect, so when you have to go back and edit a post this will ask you why (just so folks don't think you're being sneaky and changing your argument).

RSS Feed Icon
An old feature that may need some explination. Each board has an RSS Feed icon next to it. Click on it and you can subscribe to that board and watch for new postings.

SMF Gallery Lite
One of the biggest additions, a spiffy image gallery. Upload pictures you took at AMUG or Apple events, or that you think are just cool. You'll see thumbnails, and full-size images when you click the thumbnails.

Spoiler Tag
Another old feature that's back is the Spoiler Tag. Click on the Radiation icon when writing a post and you can make the stuff between the tags hidden so you don't ruin the surprise.

Topic Solved
Did you get a response to that question you posted? Use the Topic Solved buttons (green check or red x in the header of each message) to let everyone know if that post solved or didn't solve the issue. Right now all of our computer boards are setup to allow Topic Solved. [ IMAGE NOT SHOWN - GUESTS CANNOT VIEW ATTACHED IMAGES ]

Trim Url
Don't you hate those long URLs in posts? Well, now they'll be abbreviated for display, but still functional for clicking.

User Email System
Want people to be able to email you, but don't necessarily want everyone to easily get your email address? This addition creates a form that will send you an email. Its more robust than personal messages.

Users Online Today
Another old feature - Shows the "Users Logged In Today" at the bottom of the list of boards.

View Single PM
When you go to read your personal messages you'll only see one message at a time. Just click on the one of the page numbers at the bottom left of the personal messages to see older messages.

Coming Soon - Google Member Map. The developer is still working on some interesting tweaks to this, but unfortunately he hasn't updated it to work with the newer forum software.

Only just slightly, to 1.1.2. We had been using 1.1.1 since its release, but most of the new features are add-ons from other developers.

The biggest changes were upgrading the server's OS to 10.4.x from 10.3.9. This gives us more spam controls and newer builds of PHP and mysql which give the forum some additional features we couldn't use under 10.3.9. It also helps us with the next migration to 10.5 this summer. Smiley

Outgoing email should work from clients other than webmail now.  It should require authentication to do so.

Also, I am working on training the spam filters to further reduce the amount of spam coming through.  Hopefully I can get it slimmed down some more.
