It's arriving in theatres in June - I'm a HUGE fan of animation (yes, I've even seen Akira) and a HUGE fan of cars!
I can't wait to see this one! Loved the trailer on the Narnia DVD.

So did you eventually see "Cars"?  And what did you think? I'm likely going to see it this weekend with my fiance, her friend and the friend's rugrats.

It's a shame that Disney isn't making conventional hand-drawn cel animated cartoons anymore.  If Disney's last few cartoons had been as good as what Pixar does, I'm convinced Disney would still be in the business.

P.S.  When I got a DVD player, the first DVD I bought was "Akira."  Are you much of a fan of Miyazaki ("Spirited Away," "My Neighbor Totoro")?

No, actually, I haven't seen it yet!
Wasn't Beauty and the Beast the last hand-drawn? I can't recall.

As for Akira, I'm not a huge Anime fan. That was the product of my previous marriage. I did see Aeon Flux - both the theatre version on PPV and back in the 90s as animated - loved them both - but I love any movie where a woman kicks butt!

Let us know how Cars was!

Actually, I think the last hand-drawn feature from Disney was "Home on the Range" (voices of Roseanne, others), and that was maybe four or five years ago.  "Beauty and the Beast" came out something like 15 years ago, and it was one of the first cartoons of what was Disney's renaissance at the time. The fact that you've probably never heard of "Home on the Range" is one of the reasons Disney isn't making hand-drawn cartoons anymore.

After I see "Cars" I'll file a report here.

I totally forgot Home on the Range and YES, I've seen it and I didn't think it was THAT bad... I can't stand Roseannne, but just her voice, I can tolerate for 90 minutes...
Looking forward to your opinion of CARS...
