Saft?

Does anyone use the Saft addin for Safari? I've been playing with it for a week now. I think I'll register it for one big reason - Consolidate windows. I mean, I got it to try the full screen mode, but I don't find that as nice as I figured I would. But, I somehow manage to get 6-8 safari windows open, and only one or two will have tabs. Being able to pull all those into a single window is sweeet.....

I haven't used it personally, but I've heard mostly good things about it. The only issues are when Apple releases an update to Safari most Saft users are left grumbling for a day or so until its updated. Sort of like taking coffee away from some people in the morning.

I've been using Saft since 11/04 and can recommend it for its range of features.  Personal favorites:

1. ability to assign shortcuts for URL's (e.g. I can type "vt" in the address field, hit return and Safari goes to versiontracker.com)

2. ability to quickly save bookmarks directly in any Bookmark Folder, including folders in the tab bar. See SaveBookmarks.jpg attached

3. restore set of opened websites from a previous session in Safari

The above just scratch the surface of the complete Saft feature set.

The only issues are when Apple releases an update to Safari most Saft users are left grumbling for a day or so until its updated. Sort of like taking coffee away from some people in the morning.

Usually, the developer is very quick to release updates within a day or two of a new Safari release, so the twitching from the withdrawals are short-lived.

Thanks for the tip on shortcuts! That and consolidate windows are now my favorites of its features.

I haven't used Saft, but I can use ?-1, ?-2, etc to access the bookmarks in my bookmark bar, and I can drag a URL from the address field to a folder of bookmarks in the bookmark bar. I can also start typing versiontracker (get about as far as vers...) and it will use the autocomplete (which can be a pain) to guess I mean versiontracker.com.

Still not sold on it. ;-)

You have an unlimited number of shortcuts with Saft.

Saft allows you to add a bookmark directly to a bookmark folder regardless of whether the folder is on the bookmark bar or not.

Again, there are many more features than what we've been discussing. ;-)
