I realize this device runs WINCE, but the fact is, it's a PDA/Phone with Bluetooth, Wifi, quad-band GSM, WINCE 5.0 (yes I know it is now called Windows Mobile Edition, I just like the sound of the WinCE acronym, wince!) and has a full protrait QWERTY keyboard.  Pretty damn slick if you ask me.  We are most likely going to purchase one for my co-worker to use on the BellSouth/GT research project.

I will try to post observances about it.  Check it out at phonescoop:  http://www.p...ne.php?p=781

I have the Cingular 8125 which is also a HTC system running Windows Mobile 5. The OS and GUI isn't as user friendly as PalmOS, in my opinion, but it is quite a powerful PDA especially if you're a Windows user. Right now there is no way to sync between a WM5 and Mac, but Mark/Space has an alpha out for registered users.

Being a Rabid PPC user, and a Mac user, I have a few things to add..

First .. check out POCKETMAC ( http://www.p...3/index.html ) .. Might solve your sync issues right off the bat.

Second -- especially since these are hybrid PPC/Phones, check out HOWARDFORUMS ( http://www.h...dforums.com/ ) as it is THE place to go to chat about "Smartphone" (and I use that term loosely) or any cell telecom issues.

If it werent for the fact that my company has the Blackberry solution in place for wireless email, I surely would go to a PPC phone (My Audiovox 5600 was my most favorite phone to date).

Keep us posted!

Because Microsoft changed the way ActiveSync works for Windows Mobile 5, many older sync utilities do not work. PocketMac and Mark/Space are working to resolve this, according to their websites.

Before this I had a BlackBerry 7100t which was pretty nice. It was a great email device and a great phone. If you are looking for something more such as opening/editing Office files, web browsing, etc., then the BlackBerry devices fall short.
