Just got this movie from Netflix on DVD and watched it tonight. Really good movie -- the kind that you keep thinking about afterwards and want to view again. I'll probably hold onto this one for a while and watch it again next week sometime. I think what I liked best about it was how unpredictable it is -- you can never be sure what's going to happen next. It stars the German actress Franka Potenta, who was in Run Lola Run (Lola Rennt) and who also played Matt Damon's romantic interest in the Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy movies.

Strongly recommended!

Note: dialog is in German with English subtitles.

Yes, that's the one!  Der Krieger und die Kaiserin is the original German title. Here is the review page on Rotten Tomatoes Link and here are the reviews on Amazon Link (4.5 out of 5 stars based on 95 reviews).

It is sort of a quirky romance, I guess -- about what happens when the wrong people meet at the right time.
