Christina asked us to make recommendations as to changes to the forum. That is what I am, sort of, doing.
Yes, I could have found a better way to do this, but you know what? Our forum is dead, dead, dead, dead! So I chose to deal with it, this way. Sorry about that. Again, my apologies.
Our forum seriously needs to be renovated. It needs to be enlivened with new posts, that are relevant! Most of the categories and posts should be deleted. Some posts, in some of the categories, those that are to the topic of Macs and iOS maybe stay in an archive, but the rest should go by the way of the Dodo bird. (Actually, I want the Dodo bird back! Keep the Ivory Billed Woodpecker, if it isn't extinct, and get the Dodo back. Lose the old, off topic forum posts.)
I am very sorry to sound ruthless, here, about people's posts. My old ones have laser beams on their foreheads, too, but we really need to make the forums simpler and easier for members to post to, see what others have posted and maybe even answer some of the questions.
Our AMUG website needs to be something that draws people to our club. That encourages people to want to pay for a membership and be a part of our club community. The forum is and has been for a while a veritable millstone in that it has been so infuriating to deal with, that some of our members are sworn off it. For the rest, no one has posted in years, so that should give us an idea of how useful it has been.
I think we need to renovate the forums and make them worthwhile again. I stand by this by being willing to do whatever work is necessary to get this done.

The plan is to greatly simplify the forums and remove topics that are outside the scope of Mac and iOS hardware and software. In this way, we hope to make the forums much more useful and responsive to our members.

Having had a successful Maclanta Xpo, we find that we have a good supply of Intego Software - Content Barrier and Virus Barrier to give away to a school or group or groups that can use them. These are of course Mac only and they need to be given out in next few days.
Does anyone know of a school or group that uses Macs and could use some of this software?
