Title: Missing iPod Post by: Royce Brown on February 23, 2006, 09:00:51 AM I have had two iPods stolen out of my car sitting in front of my house in the past month or so. When the first one was taken I was pretty sure it was taken out of my car but also thought I might have misplaced it. I replaced the iPod. I have a connection in my glove box that hard wires the iPod to my Pioneer stereo. Went out yesterday morning to see my glove box open and obviously someone had gone thru the car. I am sure it's one of the skate board thugs that walk around my otherwise safe neighborhood. Atleast I have my name and phone number engraved on the back.
My question is I know I registered the first iPod with Apple. You have to link to your computer to upload songs. Does Apple check the registration? I'm guessing they would not since they don't want to get involved in the iPod recovery movement. They'd much rather idiots like me go buy another one. Title: Re: Missing iPod Post by: Chris Waldrip on February 23, 2006, 12:16:41 PM Apple doesn't activly track stolen hardware. But if you need to get the serial number for your second iPod (for a police report or insurance) here's how to recover it from iTunes...
Open iTunes, and go to the preferences. Select iPod, and it will say No iPod Connected. Click on that text and it'll change to display the serial number of the last iPod connected to the machine. |
