Title: Constantine Post by: Terry Johnson on February 10, 2006, 08:44:02 PM With Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, and Tilda Swinton. One of two movies I just rented from Netflix. I missed this one when it was in the theaters. Pretty interesting and quirky. Constantine is the kind of role that Reeves is well-suited for (why does he keep showing up in movies like Devil's Advocate and Constantine, anyway?). The real reason to see it this movie, though, is Tilda Swinton, who plays the Archangel Gabriel. Just as with the White Witch in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, Swinton's performance is remarkable.
Didn't get a very favorable rating from Rotten Tomatoes, though: link. I tried twice to watch the whole thing and barely made it half way each time. Finally boxed it up and sent it back to Blockbuster.
I think I might have liked it better in a theater where I'd have to pay attention to it but it was just a little to strange for me and I like just about everyone in the cast.
