If you can't mount the drive on the desktop then it could have been just a software issue.

But booting from a disc in the drive means that the drive can't read the disc, or the computer can't talk with the drive.

Logged in as a different account user - Same Problem
Tried booting from the Tiger DVD but since this is one of the 5 Apple DVDs that won't mount -
That didn't work.
