After reading most all the support info on Apple for above - I give up and come here to the real gurus

OK, have lots of small mpegs2....pics with sound, I wish to convert to mp4 with sound. Apple says can't do and I have tried and i can't do. I will no give up....

OK, so how do I do them, so I can have them on my iPod (latest) 30 gb 5th generation...
