New User Files Info |
If you have a Macintosh computer or a PC computer running Windows, there are several pieces of software which you will need to effectively work with this BBS. Most importantly, the FirstClass Graphical User Interface (GUI) software provides a very friendly way to communicate.
For Macintosh: simply download the appropriate files contained in the Mac FirstClass Files folder. You should start with the FirstClass Client file and either the AMUG B&W Settings or AMUG Color Settings file (depending on whether you're using a Macintosh computer that displays color or only black-and-white images). You should install this software first and then log back on to the BBS using it.
Another file, entitled BulkRate, contains the files for an off-line message reader you may choose to use later. And the document Connecting to AMUG via TCP/IP describes how to connect to AMUG if you have access to the Internet.
Additional software for Macintosh users can be found in Mac Decompression Files and Other Useful Mac Files. Most of these programs should be downloaded and installed to allow the decompression and reading of files downloaded from the BBS.
For a PC running Windows: simply download the appropriate files contained in the WinDOS New User Files folder. You should start with the FirstClass Client file. You should install this software first and then log back on to the BBS using it.
Another file, entitled OffRoad, contains the files for an off-line message reader you may choose to use later. The remaining files are required for decompressing files downloaded from the BBS.
We hope you enjoy our BBS. If you need help, simply send a message to BBS Help and someone (probably one of the SysOps) will help you.
